Think About This!!!

Have you ever worked out your short game to long game ratio?  In other words, how many of your shots in a round are long (over 100 yards) and how many are short (100 yards and in).  Write down a typical round and add it up, you will find about 60% of your shots are played from 100 yards and in. 

This is a great time of year to point this out, as we will hopefully be opening the driving range soon (sometime next week if the weather co-operates).  The first club I always see pulled out is the driver!  While I understand the therapeutic value in this, if you really want to improve your game, spend more time practicing those shots from 100 yards and in.  Try it this spring, pull your 9 iron and wedge out FIRST this year and practice them (at least 60% of the time).  Let me know if your scores improve. 

Course News

So far the weather is not co-operating, is it?! Marcel had all the greens cleared of snow 3 weeks ago, the good news is that they look as if they wintered really well!  Bad news is they all got covered up again, along with the rest of the course.  We will open as soon as we can, I know we are all itching to get out there, but it does look at the moment as if it will be a little later this year than in the last couple of years.  I'm sure opening day and the birth of our baby will coincide!!!

Driving Range

As I said earlier, we will try to open the driving range next week, if the snow continues to melt, I will keep you updated.  We will be doing some upgrade renovations on the driving range tee box early this year, that will mean we will be hitting off the grassed area in front of the tee box soon.  At that point we will have to use irons only ( for safety reasons on hole 17 green).  You might be forced to practice my golf tip!!!

New Website

One of my winter projects was getting the website updated.  It is the same address (click the link at the top of this page) and has turned out great.  Some areas to keep an eye on will be the calendar, it will have all tournaments on there, so will know which ones to enter and which days would be good to support another club in the province.  Also you will see a mens and ladies league section which will have all the league results posted on rather than us emailing everyone.  The restaurant will also have there weekend specials posted on there so you can decide what to eat before you come out to the restaurant.

Pro Shop

The Pro Shop will be open from next week Tuesday (April 14) on a regular basis.  Hours will be 12-5:30 weekdays until we are able to open the driving range and they will then be extended.
